This suave-but-casual cafe and tapas bar is a rose amongst many tourist-trapping thorns. Start your day with healthy breakfast smoothies, juices and yoghurts with fruit, as well as pastries and home-baked cakes (with plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options). A blue Marzocco espresso machine adorns the polished concrete bar where the team grinds single-origin beans from local roasters Nomad Coffee. The made-to-order sandwiches (a rare thing in Barcelona) are perfect for a light lunch with a beer or a glass of vermouth. Tapas dishes draw on high-quality ingredients and are a treat at any time of day. Share a board of local cheeses and Iberian hams, as well as dishes like the green-pea hummus with mint, and potato salad with smoked Cantabrian sardines. Organic wines, Catalan craft beers and creative cocktails offer the perfect excuse to loiter. Outstanding value for money, especially considering its central location.
